The 2013 year has brought many changes in personnel at the Willoughby Police Department. Between December of 2012 and June of 2013, six employees have retired, which has allowed numerous members of the Department to be promoted and necessitated four new hires.
The Willoughby Police Department continues to be mindful of the economic times. In the spirit of cost cutting, the Department has joined with other police departments to join the “Lake Crash Reconstruction Unit” which will investigate serious and fatal crashes. Over time through attrition, and as equipment becomes antiquated we will not be replacing personnel or equipment instead sharing the burden with numerous other departments in Lake County. Additionally, with advances in technology, interaction with the Willoughby Police Department has become easier. Accident reports are now available on line as well as many forms for use by the Department.
As a native of Willoughby, I have a personal interest in the success of the Department and its effectiveness in carrying out our mission. To assist me with that, I want to encourage and increase two-way communication between the Willoughby Police Department, its personnel, and both the business and residential community.
