December 2025
As 2025 comes to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the residents of Willoughby for re-electing me as your mayor for another four years. It is an honor to continue serving our community, and I am thankful for your trust, support, and partnership. Together, we have made meaningful progress, and I look forward to building on that momentum as we move into 2026 and beyond.
December is always a special time in Willoughby, and our city truly shines during the holidays. We have several wonderful, family-friendly traditions planned this month, and I encourage everyone to take part in the fun, connect with neighbors, and support our local businesses. This year’s highlights include the Santa House, Santa Parade, and the inaugural Downtown Willoughby Merchants Association Golden Ticket Raffle. Details of these events can be found on our city website and Facebook page.
Continuing with holiday traditions, I’m proud to share that Willoughby’s annual holiday lights display was selected for the third straight year as a stop on the 2025 Ohio Holiday Lights Trail. The Trail, now in its tenth year, has grown to 79 stops across the state. I invite you to enjoy the glow of the season here at home and explore other communities participating in the Trail. You can download the map at ohio.org/home/seasons/holidays. Thank you to our team who work hard to create a festive experience each year.
As winter arrives, I’d like to offer a few reminders. During heavy snow events, please be patient as our Service Department works through its plowing priorities. Main streets such as Rt. 84, Rt. 91, and Euclid Avenue are cleared first, followed by police and fire stations, public parking lots, and then residential side streets and cul-de-sacs. When snowfall exceeds two inches, a parking ban may be issued to allow our plows to operate safely and efficiently. These notices will be posted on both the Police Department and City of Willoughby Facebook pages during major storms. I also want to recognize the incredible efforts of our Service Department for their dedication to keeping our roads and public spaces safe and accessible.
The holidays also remind us of the importance of looking out for one another. I encourage residents to extend kindness, support local nonprofits, and continue fostering the strong sense of community that makes Willoughby such a special place to live.
On behalf of the administration, the City of Willoughby staff, City Council, and my family, I wish everyone a happy, healthy, and meaningful holiday season.
