JULY 2024
With two successful events already behind us, summer is fully underway in Willoughby! This month, we will enjoy the Willoughby-Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce’s ArtsFest on Saturday, July 20, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in our Historic Downtown. As we look forward to this wonderful event, it’s a great time to acknowledge a vital part of our commitment to the arts in Willoughby, The Willoughby Arts Collaborative. Founded to support the arts in our City, this non-profit organization includes local artists, art lovers, and art administrators. You have probably noticed some of their work, which consists of The Bridge, our downtown gateway element, the artfully wrapped electric utility boxes, the library mural, and recently, the “Footloose” performance by the Fine Arts Association actors during the Downtown Willoughby Car Cruise-In. The Collaborative is committed to bringing the arts and entertainment to our City to enhance our reputation as a destination and to support our local economy. Led by Pat Carroll, who has shown incredible passion and dedication to the arts, the Collaborative has many more exciting things planned for our City. One is the 4th Annual Chalkfest on Saturday, August 10, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Downtown Willoughby. This event is part of Last Stop Willoughby. The public can enjoy watching artists chalk downtown Willoughby buildings and sidewalks. There will be a juried competition with cash prizes for 1st place, two honorable mention awards, and a People’s Choice award. Chalk will be available for sale for children and families in designated locations.
We look forward to our 4th of July fireworks launching at our Pelton Road site, and we’d like to remind our residents that personal fireworks are prohibited in our City. Also, there will be no Gazebo Concert on July 4. We will have two Osborne Park concerts on July 10th and 17th.
As we maintain and enjoy our properties during the summer, we ask that grass clippings not be blown into the street where they can enter our storm sewers. Also, please remember that recreational fires are only permitted in a fireplace, Chiminea, or fire ring.
As always, we ask that you check our website for the latest information about events and projects within our City. We wish you a relaxing and enjoyable summer.
