July 2025

As we continue with summer 2025, we have already hosted several successful events including the Sumer Concert Series kick-off at Osborne Park and the start of the Downtown Willoughby Gazebo concerts. The Rib Burn-Off and the Willoughby Cruise-In enjoyed pleasant weather and a solid turnout. This month, we are looking forward to the Willoughby-Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce’s ArtsFest on Saturday, July 19 beginning at 10:00 AM in our Historic Downtown. The ArtsFest will include over 160 artists, entertainment, dance performances, and of course, great food. We would also like to introduce Walkabout Willoughby, beginning on July 11 through July 13. Walkabout Willoughby will occur every second weekend and will be themed. These weekends will include extended shopping hours and art receptions at Stella’s Art Gallery on Friday evening, food and drink specials on Saturday, and breakfast and brunch at our local eateries on Sunday. This great summertime series has something for the entire family!

As our summer road construction projects progress, we are happy to announce that the River Street Slope Stabilization and Watermain Replacement project is complete, two weeks ahead of schedule. A second slope stabilization project is planned along the south side of Ridge Road near River Street. As the plans progress for the project, we will keep our residents informed as to schedule and possible detours.

Our Police Station project is on schedule for a June 2026 opening, and as the work continues, we will plan a hard hat tour for our residents to view the progress. The 25 Public Square project is nearing completion, and the model suites are ready for viewing as preleasing continues. This adaptive reuse of the former Union High School will bring residents close to our downtown and further define Willoughby as a walkable community. We are looking for a grand opening later this summer

Finally, as we move through the summer months and enjoy the outdoors, please remember that recreational fires are only permitted in a fireplace, Chiminea, or fire ring. Also, while Willoughby is pet friendly, please keep your dogs on leashes in our parks and on other public properties.

As always, we ask that you check our website for the latest information about events and projects within our city. We wish you a relaxing and enjoyable summer.
